SANFORD MAINERS AUCTION JERSEYS TO BENEFIT SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR SANFORD STUDENTS

The Sanford Mainers will be wearing new jerseys this year for the first time since their inception in 2002.  Once the decision to purchase new jerseys was made, the discussion surrounding the old jerseys began.  Over the years, the team received many requests from fans wishing to purchase the jerseys.  The Mainers hoped to come up with a way of making the fans happy, as well as support the Mainers’ mission of giving back to the Sanford community.  It was decided the old jerseys would be sold in a silent auction with all proceeds to benefit the development of a scholarship fund.  The Mainers will award portions of the scholarship fund yearly to a Sanford High School student.  The auctions will be held at various Sanford Mainers’ home games throughout the upcoming season, with the first to be held at the Wednesday, June 11 game.  Fans will have an opportunity to bid on select uniforms during the game and the lucky winners will leave the game with a piece of history.

A Welcome Back Mainers Event is scheduled for Thursday, June 5 at 5:30PM at Goodall Park.  Admission to the Welcome Back Mainers Event is free and all are welcome to come and meet Coach Joe Brown and the 2008 Sanford Mainers team.    The Mainers open their season with home games on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 at 6:30PM at Goodall Park.  The Sanford Mainers are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  All home games are played at Goodall Park in Sanford, Maine.
