Mainers Down Westerners 6-2
Sanford takes six-game streak to North Adams Thursday night

Sanford, ME – The Sanford Mainers used a four-run outburst in the fifth en route to their sxith straight win, this time by a final of 6-2 Wednesday night at Goodall Park. Nick Cenatiempo allowed two runs over six-plus innings as he picked up his second win of the year.

With the Mainers trailing 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the offense would come to life. Corey Hunt hit a soft grounder through the right side and was able to reach second on the play with a hustle double. Kyle Groth followed that with a two-bagger of his own, a line shot into left-center to bring home Hunt. After a balk by starter Corey Muscara, Branson Joseph came through with a sacrifice fly to plate Groth. With a one-run lead now, Kevin Reimer coaxed a two-out walk, followed by a two-run blast off the bat of Devin Harris, his second long ball of the year. Sanford would add one more insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when pinch-runner A.J. Casario came in to score on wild pitch with Greg Hopkins at the plate to make it a 6-2 score.

The Mainers started the scoring in the second. Devin Harris and Will Greenberg singled to lead off the frame. After Brian Harris was hit by a Corey Muscara pitch, Hopkins came to the plate with the bases loaded and nobody out. Hopkins hit a sharp grounder to short which turned into a double play, but Devin Harris came in to score to give the Mainers a 1-0 advantage.

The Westerners took the lead with a two-run fourth inning. With the bases loaded and only one away, Chris Daniels and Shane Kingsley recorded back-to-back singles to plate one-run apiece and shift the temporary one-run lead over to Danbury.

Cenatiempo improved to 2-1 on the year, firing six innings and allowing the two runs on six hits while striking out four. Jeff DeCarlo and Ryan Cole combined to pitch the final three frames flawlessly. Muscara was draped with the loss for Danbury. He allowed five runs five innings of work.
