RUDDY NAMED NECBL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SANFORD – The New
England Collegiate Baseball League announced on Monday that Sanford
Mainers catcher Bubba Ruddy (Cypress CC/Orange, Calif.) has been named
the league’s Player of the Week for the week ending on July 8. In six
games last week, Ruddy hit .333 (9-for-27) with a home run and nine runs
batted in.
Ruddy played a role in both of Sanford’s wins on the week. On June 5
against Lowell at Goodall Park, the sophomore backstop went 3-for-5 with
three RBI singles and a run scored to lead the Mainers to an 8-2
victory. Three days later, Ruddy went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI singles
and a run scored in a 9-1 win at Torrington. In between, he mixed in a
two-run double in a 15-7 loss at Holyoke on July 7 and also hit
Sanford’s first and only home run on the season, a two-run home run in a
6-2 defeat at Vermont on July 6.
Ruddy led the league in runs batted in during the past week, and
currently leads the Mainers on the season in that department with 15
RBIs.
The Mainers return to action on Tuesday, July 10 when they visit the
Keene Swamp Bats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Field
in Keene, N.H. Matt Janik and Bob Lund will have all the action at
