(13-12).
The Mainers opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first
inning. Brian Kemp (St. John’s/East Rockaway, N.Y.) led off the game
with a single to center field. After stealing second for his
league-leading 18th stolen base of the season, Kemp moved to third when
Cody Allen (Central Michigan/Coleman, Mich.) grounded out to first base.
Max Most (Marist/Port Washington, N.Y.) followed and drove in the first
run of the game with a single just fair down the third base line.
Sanford extended the lead to 2-0 with another run in the top of the
second inning. Jeff Grantham (St. John’s/Randolph, N.J.) led off the
inning and was hit by a pitch from Swamp Bats starter Dean Weaver.
Grantham moved to second base on a groundout to second by Tyler Stovall
(Central Michigan/Cincinnati, Ohio) and came in to score the Mainers’
second run in as many innings on a groundball single up the middle by
Noah Lankford (Central Michigan/Cincinnati, Ohio).
Kevin Landry (William & Mary/Vienna, Va.) started and earned the victory
(2-2) on the hill for Sanford. Over seven shutout innings, he gave up
six hits, walked one, hit a batter and struck out 10. Nick Carlucci

and ninth innings, giving up one hit and striking out one to pick up his
first save of the season.
