2008 Sanford Mainer Brian Harris

Brian is a sophomore 2nd baseman at Vanderbilt University, a Top 25 Division 1 team. He is from Nashville, the home of VU. Brian has become a regular in his second season, hitting .298 through April 12th in 29 games. In the field, he has made only 1 error in 80 chances. His style of play at second has earned him the nickname "Dirty Harry."

In high school, Brian's team won the '04 state championship. He lettered in baseball and football for three years, and was All State in both in 2004.

In the Summer of 2006, Brian played for the Galesburg Pioneers of the Central Illinois CBL, starting 35 games. Last Summer, he played for the Saratoga Phillies of the New York Collegiate Baseball League, hitting .266 with 5 doubles and 14 RBI in 36 starts. Brian was also successful in 10 out of 12 stolen base attempts.

Two of Brian's teammates at Vanderbilt are from Portland. Shortstop Ryan Flaherty and catcher Andrew Giobbi are both starters, as well.
